On May 28th, 1966, the founding meeting of our association took place at the Lake Maggiore in St. Peterburg, Florida.

History of the association:

1962 March 3 The first Latvian service led by Pastor A. Weinbergs took place in St. Petersburg, Florida.

1966 On March 5, an interim board was elected. For the Latvian community in Petersburg.

1966 The founding meeting of the association took place on May 28. The Latvian group was registered with the American Latvian Association (ALA). He was elected the first head of the association  Benjamins Tooth. 

1968 The group received several books as a gift from ALA, as a starting point for St. For the arrangement of the library of the Latvian community in St. Petersburg. 

1971 the set was renamed and was officially created in St. St. Petersburg Florida Latvian Society.

1972 The choir of the association, conducted by Artūrs Priednieks Kavarras, started working.      

In 1973, Anastasija Siliņa was elected the head of the society. 

1973 the church separated from the society and was founded in St. Group of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg.    

1974 At the beginning, a real estate purchase account was established. Jānis Zālīte took over the chairmanship of the real estate fundraising committee. 

1978 Stanislavs Jaunzems was elected the head of the association.

1979 Dr. was elected the head of the association. Arnolds Kalnins. 

1980 On May 13, a contract was signed for the purchase of a plot of land and an old wooden house with a garage for $ 42,500.00 at 1705 9th Ave. N., who became the house of the Latvian Society.   

1982 On March 6, a dragonfly festival was celebrated.   

1983 the association house was consecrated. 

1989 Andris Ritums was elected the head of the association.

1995 Jānis Baltiņš was elected the head of the association.

1996 Ilgvars Norbergs was elected the head of the association.

2009 for the association  Gunārs Liepiņš was elected boss.

2017 Juris Epermanis was elected the head of the association.

2018 the society house was liquidated. The association continues its activities in rented premises. 

2019 Dace Nebare was elected head of the society.

2020 The association's first ZOOM event "White Tablecloth Festival" is taking place.

2021 the association is 55 years old!
